Worsted Ruffle Scrunchie

Materials:

Worsted size 4 weight yarn

Crochet Hook: 5.5 mm (I)

Elastic Hair Bands (3 inches / 76 mm in diameter)

Note: Ch 1 and sl sl does not count as the first stitch.

Note: If you use a smaller or larger elastic band, you may need to decrease or increase the amount of round 1 stitches.

Instructions:

Round 1: Work a slip stitch around the band. The slip stitch does not count as the first stitch. Work 36 single crochets around the elastic band. Join with a slip stitch into the first single crochet. (36 stitches)

Round 2: Chain 3. Starting with the next stitch, work 3 triple crochets in each stitch around to the end of the row. Join with a slip stitch to the first triple crochet. (108 stitches)

Round 3: Chain 1. Starting with the next stitch, work 2 single crochets in each stitch around to the end of the row. Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet. Chain 1. (216 stitches)

Cut the yarn and finish with an invisible join. Or the finishing method of your choice.

Note: To make a bigger and wavier scrunchie, repeat round 2 to the desired size.
