Chunky Ruffle Scrunchie Pattern

Materials:

Bulky Size 5 weight yarn. I use 100% polyester velvet yarn.

Or two strands of worsted size 4 weight yarn.

Crochet Hook: 6.0 mm (J)

Elastic Hair Bands (3 inches / 76 mm in diameter)

Note: Ch 1 and sl st does not count as the first stitch.

Note: If you use a smaller or larger elastic band, you may need to decrease or increase the amount of round 1 stitches.

Instructions:

Round 1: Sl st around the hair band, ch 1. Sc around the entire hair band until it is covered. Join with a sl st in the first sc.

Note: I make approximately 40 sc sts, but that may vary depending on the elastic band that you are using.

Round 2: Ch 2, work 2 dc in each sc around. Join with a sl st in the first dc.

Cut the yarn and finish with an invisible join. Or the finishing method of your choice.

Note: To make a bigger and wavier scrunchie, repeat round 2 to the desired size.
