Instructions:
Using the H 5.00mm hook, start with a magic loop.
Round 1: Chain 3, work 11 DCs in the ring; join to top of chain 3 and pull magic loop tight (12 stitches)
Round 2: Chain 3, work 1 DC in the same stitch, *2 DCs in the next stitch* Repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 3 stitch. (24 stitches)
Round 3: Chain 3, work 1 DC in the same stitch, *1 DC in the next 2 stitches, 2 DCs in next stitch* Repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 3 stitch. (32 stitches)
Round 4: Chain 3, work 2 DCs in the next stitch, *1 DC in the next 3 stitches, 2 DCs in next stitch* Repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Work 1 DC in the last 2 stitches. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 3 stitch. (40 stitches)
Round 5: Chain 3, work 2 DCs in the next stitch, *1 DC in the next 4 stitches, 2 DCs in next stitch* Repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Work 1 DC in the last 3 stitches. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 3 stitch. (48 stitches)
Round 6: Chain 3, work 2 DCs in the next stitch, *1 DC in the next 5 stitches, 2 DCs in next stitch* Repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Work 1 DC in the last 4 stitches. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 3 stitch. (56 stitches)
Round 7: Chain 3, work 2 DCs in the next stitch, *1 DC in the next 6 stitches, 2 DCs in next stitch* Repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Work 1 DC in the last 5 stitches. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 3 stitch. (64 stitches)
Round 8: Chain 3, work 2 DCs in the next stitch, *1 DC in the next 7 stitches, 2 DCs in next stitch* Repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Work 1 DC in the last 6 stitches. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 3 stitch. (72 stitches)
Round 9: Chain 3, work 2 DCs in the next stitch, *1 DC in the next 8 stitches, 2 DCs in next stitch* Repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Work 1 DC in the last 7 stitches. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 3 stitch. (80 stitches)
Round 10: Chain 3, work 1 DC in the next stitch. *Work 1 DC in each stitch to the end of the round. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 3 stitch. (80 stitches)
Rounds 11-23: Repeat Row 10. (80 stitches)
Note: This is where you can add or remove rows if you want your hat to be longer.
Edging
Round 24: Change to the G 4.00mm hook. Ch 2. Work 1 hdc2tog in the next 8 stitches. Work 1 hdc in the next 63 stitches. Work 1 hdc2tog in the last 8 stitches. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 2 stitch. (72 stitches)
Round 25 - 27: Ch. 2. In the back loop only, hdc in the next stitch. Work 1 hdc in each stitch in the back loops only. Join with a sl st into the top of the chain 2 stitch. (72 stitches)
Note: Make the edging shorter or longer by adding or subtracting rows.
Finish off with an invisible join and secure the magic ring.
Drawstring
Using the G 4.0 mm hook, leave a 3 inch (7.6 cm) tail and make a slip knot. Make enough ch sts to make the chain 30 inches (76 cm) long. Approximately 110 ch sts. Finished off with a 3 inch (7.6 cm) tail.
Weave the chain through the last round of the hat.
